Uluwatu Temple – Sacred Cliffside Temple in Bali
Pura Luhur Uluwatu is a sacred temple located on the high cliffs of Bali, dedicated to the worship of Lord Batara Rudra, and is one of the six important Sad Kahyangan temples in Bali.

The temple is located in Pecatu Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali. Uluwatu Temple was founded in the 11th century by the holy priest Mpu Kuturan, and later venerated by Dang Hyang Nirartha in 1546. The name “Uluwatu” comes from “ulu” meaning peak and “watu” meaning rock, describing its location on a 97-meter-high cliff overlooking the sea.
