Penglipuran Village, Preserving Bali’s Traditional Culture

Penglipuran Village, located in Bangli Regency, Bali, Indonesia, is one of the most famous traditional villages in Bali. The village is a popular tourist destination because its residents actively preserve and practice Balinese traditional culture in their daily lives.

The architecture and land management in the village follow the Tri Hita Karana concept, a Balinese philosophy emphasizing the balance between God, humans, and the environment. By applying this principle, Penglipuran has successfully developed sustainable tourism, ensuring that the entire community benefits economically without losing their cultural heritage.

Penglipuran is also known for its well-preserved bamboo forests, which play an essential role in the local ecosystem. In recognition of these conservation efforts, the village was awarded the Kalpataru Award by the Indonesian government in 1995.

Visitors to Penglipuran can enjoy traditional architecture, a clean and peaceful environment, and authentic cultural experiences. Walking along the stone-paved streets, immersing in the serene atmosphere, and learning about Balinese customs and traditions firsthand makes Penglipuran a unique destination for cultural tourism.
